Job Description
Forum Asset Management is looking to expand our team to satisfy the needs of our growing client base. The Fund Operations Manager will be an integral part of the Investor Relations (IR) Team at Forum Asset Management, focusing on the execution of fundraising operations and supporting initiatives with a particular focus on institutional and private wealth clients (pension funds, endowments & foundations, consultants, family offices and wealth platforms). They will also assist in providing ongoing high levels of client servicing to our existing client base. This role will be based in our Toronto Office.
The role requires interacting with various internal and external departments. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and resourceful, with strong communication skills and the ability to meet deadlines effectively.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the investor onboarding process for all funds, including intake, reconciliation, and maintenance of account opening and subscription documents.
- Maintain consistent and organized recordkeeping of investor documentation and data flows.
- Administer capital calls, including associated reporting, reconciliation activities, and cash flow monitoring for managed funds and underlying investments.
- Perform month-end reconciliations of funds received, deployed, and related documentation.
- Collaborate with Legal and Compliance teams to operate within established risk frameworks, policies, and procedures as an Exempt Market Dealer, including oversight of KYC, AML, FATCA, and NI 45-106 compliance.
- Collaborate across departments to support reporting to regulators (eg. OSC) to ensure adherence to and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.
- Manage investor platforms used by the IR team for document execution and investor reporting.
- Assist the Investor Relations team in responding to client queries related to monthly investor reports, including performance and transaction inquiries, and coordinate internally to provide high-quality, timely responses while managing the investor relations email inbox.
- Oversee account administration, and the onboarding of new funds, including the migration of investor data across the Forum Asset Management product platform.
- Collaborate with senior leadership on special projects as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education / Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience, preferably in the asset management/investment industry.
- Compliance experience would be considered an asset.
- Experience with private funds, hedge funds, and knowledge of alternative investments, real estate, and private equity is preferred.
- Preference will be given to candidates with or pursuing an MBA, CIM, CFA, CAIA or an accounting designation.
Skills:
- Solid understanding of various types of private investments.
- Knowledge of operational best practices and ethical conduct in line with Canadian regulatory frameworks for private market investments, particularly those offered via Offering Memorandum or Private Placement Memorandum.
- Strong financial literacy and understanding of key finance concepts such as valuation, investment performance measurement, and investment structures.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including data analysis, numerical skills, and problem-solving.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels, both internally and externally.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Team player capable of working in a fast-paced, agile environment with a strong focus on client needs.
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency with SEDAR+, NRD and OSC portal.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
